TNE GOOD PRACTICE NETWORK UZBEKISTAN 2024

Connecting Global Education: A Collaborative Initiative

The TNE Good Practice Network in Uzbekistan is a pioneering initiative aligned with the country’s national priorities, focusing on:

  • Widening access to quality education through transnational education (TNE).
  • Enhancing global standing of Uzbekistan's universities.
  • Fostering internationalization and stronger ties with the global education community.

Why TNE in Uzbekistan?

Uzbekistan has rapidly become a hub for transnational education in Asia:

  • Hosting 8,080 students enrolled in UK-taught programmes (2020-2021) — a 32.2% growth from the previous year.
  • Ranking third globally for international branch campuses, following China and the UAE.
  • Witnessing the establishment of 23 international higher education institutions between 2018-2022.

About the Network

This initiative, co-developed through the Uzbekistan-UK Education Forums in collaboration with the British Council, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of th Republic of Uzbekistan, and partner institutions, aims to:

  • Foster collaboration among TNE providers.
  • Share best practices in quality assurance, student experience, research, and more.
  • Address challenges to ensure scalable and sustainable TNE development.
  • Promote inclusivity with a focus on disability support, gender equality, and low-income family empowerment.
  1. Mutual Learning: Collaborative growth for all stakeholders.
  2. Creativity: Innovation through trust and shared ideas.
  3. Inclusion: Respectful and valued participation across organizations.

November 2024 marked the launch of an event hosted by WIUT/UoW/British Council to celebrate the first meeting of the Board and the network's formation.

Together, let’s shape the future of transnational education in Uzbekistan.
