Westminster International University in Tashkent hosted a University and Youth Engagement Workshop on Poverty, Vulnerability and Evidence-Based Policymaking, bringing together students and World Bank experts to discuss Uzbekistan’s progress in reducing poverty and the role of evidence in shaping policies for inclusive prosperity.
Held in partnership with the World Bank as a special open session of the University’s Our Sustainable Future Together SDG Course, the workshop explored key issues surrounding poverty and vulnerability in Uzbekistan, while highlighting the importance of data, research and evidence in informing effective policymaking. Students had the opportunity to engage directly with World Bank experts, gaining insights into current development challenges and seeing how academic knowledge can be connected to real-world policy decisions.
The event reflects WIUT’s continued commitment to bridging academic learning with real-world policy discussions and encouraging students to engage critically with the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development.
