EUREGIA JEAN MONNET CHAIR PROJECT

The EUREGIA (EU Digital Regulation, Ethics and Governance in Artificial Intelligence) Jean Monnet Chair strongly supports the core goals of the Jean Monnet action by focusing on contemporary EU Legal Studies as the central object of teaching, research and outreach and aligning them with Uzbekistan’s growing digital landscape through the external dimension of EU law and policy diffusion. Uzbekistan is currently experiencing rapid market development in AI, the digital economy, e-government, fintech, and platform-based services, requiring parallel improvement of legal knowledge.

The Chair addresses EU legal studies by teaching and analysing important EU regulations including General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), EU Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act, Digital Services Act (DSA), Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) and Digital Markets Act (DMA). These instruments will be systematically compared with current or prospective Uzbek regulations, considering the EU legal framework as the primary reference point. Through this approach students will develop a comprehensive understanding of EU's best regulatory practices in the digital sphere. As a result, the Chair strengthens the EU's position as a global standard-setter in digital economy regulation and strengthens its influence in a globalised digital landscape.
