TIMUN 2025: Central Asia’s Largest Model UN Conference Brings Together Future Leaders

Over the course of three dynamic days, TIMUN 2025 — the Tashkent International Model United Nations Conference — brought together more than 400 young delegates from Uzbekistan and abroad. The event was hosted by Westminster International University in Tashkent, in collaboration with UN agencies in Uzbekistan, the Youth Affairs Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and with the support of Kapitalbank as the General Sponsor.

Held under the theme “Together for the Future, Together with Youth,” the conference simulated eight UN committees, addressing urgent global topics such as:
– Peace and security through preventive diplomacy
– AI and the future of youth employment
– Green energy and sustainable development
– Gender equality, education, and global health

The Opening Ceremony featured welcoming remarks from:

– Komiljon Karimov, Rector of WIUT

– Sabine Machl, UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan

– Alisher Sadullaev, Director of the Youth Affairs Agency

– Nigina Abaszada, UNFPA Representative in Uzbekistan

– Oksana Lyndina, Advisor to the Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Director of Kapital Academy at Kapitalbank

Throughout the event, delegates demonstrated diplomacy, critical thinking, and a shared commitment to international cooperation. In addition to committee sessions, participants engaged in workshops, cultural exchange, and peer networking. TIMUN 2025 reaffirmed its role as a platform for empowering globally minded and socially responsible youth.

Launch of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Course at WIUT!

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) course at WIUT, spearheaded by Rector Dr Komiljon Karimov. This initiative significantly advances our dedication to tackling global sustainability challenges and equipping our students to become future leaders in this vital area.

The course offers hands-on experience and the chance to engage with pressing sustainability issues through interactive discussions, workshops, and real-world projects. It underscores the importance of the SDGs in shaping a more sustainable future for Uzbekistan and beyond.
