Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2025
WIUT’s Jessup Team has made history at the prestigious Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2025 in Washington, D.C. This year, our team reached the Top 16 — a historical result in the history of WIUT. They advanced through the Preliminary Rounds, Top 48, and Top 32 before reaching the Round of 16, competing alongside esteemed institutions such as Harvard, Oxford, and Moscow State University.
Ensuring Compliance with the Law, Preventing Violations, Crime, Corruption, and Drug Use in Educational Institutions
In alignment with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations directive (3/15-100, dated 16 October 2024), Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) hosted a preventive event on 30 October. The event, titled "Ensuring Compliance with the Law, Preventing Violations, Crime, Corruption, and Drug Use in Educational Institutions," featured an insightful discussion led by Lieutenant Colonel Arman Aydarov, a postgraduate trainee at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
This discussion provided WIUT students with valuable insights into fostering a safe, law-abiding environment and addressed critical topics in upholding integrity and preventing misconduct.


WIUT Celebrates the Homeland Defenders Day
Westminster International University in Tashkent, together with the Academic Lyceum of WIUT, proudly marked Homeland Defenders Day with a meaningful ceremony that united students and faculty members.
A standout moment was the stirring performance by the Military Orchestra, which filled the atmosphere with pride and reverence.
The event inspired a deep sense of patriotism, encouraging everyone to honour the courage and unity of those who defend our homeland.
The Largest Model United Nations Conference in Central Asia – TIMUN 2025 was held in Tashkent
From 23-25 May 2025, one of the largest youth conferences in Central Asia — the Tashkent International Model United Nations Conference (TIMUN 2025) was held in Tashkent. The conference is traditionally organised at the initiative of Westminster International University in Tashkent in partnership with UN offices in Uzbekistan and the Youth Affairs Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This year, the event has brought together over 400 young delegates from Uzbekistan and abroad to discuss pressing international issues through a simulation of the United Nations conference.

Fostering Cybersecurity Awareness
Westminster International University in Tashkent, in partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, hosted an insightful lecture on cybersecurity. The event featured Lieutenant Colonel Armon Aidarov and Major Bekzod Tillakhujaev, esteemed representatives from the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who shared their expertise on this critical subject.
The lecture provided students and staff with an invaluable opportunity to gain practical knowledge about countering cyberattacks and ensuring the secure storage of digital data. The experts offered actionable guidance on protecting virtual assets and emphasised the increasing significance of cybersecurity in the modern digital era.
This initiative served as a platform for raising awareness among young individuals and the wider community about safeguarding their online presence, thereby promoting a culture of digital security and responsibility.
Promoting Crime Prevention Among Youth
WIUT, in collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, recently hosted an insightful lecture dedicated to the prevention of crime among young people.
The session was led by Lieutenant Colonel Armon Aidarov, an esteemed representative of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who shared his insights on the factors contributing to youth involvement in crime and practical strategies for prevention.
The lecture provided students with a deeper understanding of how education, awareness, and responsible decision-making can reduce the risk of criminal behaviour. Lieutenant Colonel Aidarov emphasised the importance of early intervention, community engagement, and the role of academic institutions in shaping a law-abiding, socially responsible generation.
This initiative reinforced WIUT’s commitment to nurturing informed, ethical young citizens and fostering a safe and secure society.


Roundtable on “Data-driven research and policymaking in Uzbekistan” Successfully Held at WIUT
Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) successfully hosted the roundtable discussion on “Data-driven research and policymaking in Uzbekistan”, which brought together representatives from the World Bank Uzbekistan, the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), UNICEF Uzbekistan, other international and government organizations, and WIUT faculty members, and researchers.
The roundtable provided a platform to discuss the growing importance of data-driven approaches in public policy and academic research. Key discussions highlighted the role of publicly accessible datasets—such as the Listening to the Citizens of Uzbekistan (L2CU), Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS), and other data — in promoting evidence-based policymaking in Uzbekistan and the wider Central Asian region.
