EU COMPETITION AND
ANTI-DUMPING LAW


Jean Monnet Module “EU ComAnti-Dumping Law” project aim to increase the knowledge and ensure continuous training of students at Westminster International University in Tashkent (hereinafter WIUT) and Uzbek business society about the European Union law and the role of European Union on an international trade. With this initiative, WIUT is going to further promote EU Anti-Dumping and Competition Law, in a format of extracurricular module, as a response to the increasing importance of the European Union dimension and expanding areas for cooperation between the EU and Uzbekistan.

The proposed project assists in improving the extracurricular dimension to provide high-quality instruction using modern teaching methods. Through its varied pedagogical approaches and course activities, Commercial Law gives students a solid foundation in legal theory and how to apply it, while an extracurricular module on EU Anti-Dumping and Competition Law will address a pressing need of incorporating and evaluating EU competition and anti-dumping standards in Uzbek policy discussions and education.

EUCAD’s Objectives:

  1. to combine Uzbekistan's development framework with the EU's extensive experience of WTO law

  2. to implement EU anti-dumping, governance, and anti-corruption standards in Uzbekistan

  3. to deepen understanding of effective anti-dumping strategies and their role in promoting Uzbek economic growth and fair trade

CURRICULUM:

EUCAD consists of four module which will be taught from 2024-2027.

Module “Introduction to the EU Competition Law”. This part of the module will be delivered for the second year students (Level 4) in the university in the first semester as the extracurricular module. The size of the class will be fifty students. The academic semester teaching calendar comprises 12 lectures and 12 seminars. Each lecture is 1 hour. The module will be open to the second-year l undergraduate student at the Westminster International University in Tashkent. Introduction to the EU Competition Law will taught in the first and the second year of the project.

Module “EU Anti-Dumping Law” . This part of the module will be delivered for the third-year (Level 5) students in the law faculty in the second semester. Academic semester teaching calendar comprises 12 lectures and 12 seminars. Each lecture made of 2 hours. The module will be open to the third-year law undergraduate student at the Westminster International University in Tashkent. In the second year of the project, EU Anti-Dumping Law will be conducted as workshop style . Each workshop will be 2 hours per week. The workshop will be conducted 12 weeks.

The third Module “EU Law on Subsidies” . The block will start running in the second year of the Project. The part of the module will be taught in the first semester for the fourth year(Level 6) students of the law faculty. The block will be taught in the second and third year of the Project. The academic semester teaching calendar comprises 12 lectures and 12 seminars. Each lecture and seminars is 1,5 hours. The module will be open to the fourth-year undergraduate student at the WIUT. “EU and Law of Sales” block will be taught in the second and third year of the project.

The fourth Module “EU and Technical Regulations to Trade”. The block will start running in the second year of the Project. The part of the module will be taught in the second semester for the fourth-year (Level 6) students of the law faculty. The block will be taught in the second and third year of the Project. The academic semester teaching calendar comprises 12 lectures and 12 seminars. Each lecture and seminar made of 1,5 hours (90 minutes ). The students who successfully completed the block will be given a certificate and will be allocated to the legal clinic for providing legal advice to the entrepreneurs under the supervision of the teachers.
