WIUT Navruz Celebration

Westminster International University in Tashkent celebrated one of the brightest, most joyful and beautiful holidays Navruz on March 18th, 2019.

To celebrate the occasion the Students’ Union and the staff of WIUT organized Hashar, a spring clean-up, in Bolajon Park neighboring the University. Students and staff members joined hands and worked voluntarily for the community’s well-being.
The program of the day was followed by a colorful, culturally rich open-air folk music and dance festival. Customary karnay and sunray opened the event and a number of traditional dance and vocal performances were made by students. The winner of the Eco-projects Contest recently held at the University was also announced at the event. The author of the project was awarded a bicycle.

The winner of the Eco project is Kozim Isroiljonov for the project called "Motion sensors".

Following the entertainment part of the program, everyone was invited to enjoy the delicious traditional sumalak and festive pilav.

A day earlier, Navruz celebration also took place at the WIUT dormitory. The celebration at the dormitory was full of joyful moments spent together with friends, course mates and the administration of the University. Every student and guest had a chance to participate in different sports competitions ranging from football to the national sport contests such as rope pulling. The event was also full of great performances prepared by both local and international students of WIUT.

Navruz festival, a traditional spring holiday, has come to hold a special place in the hearts of WIUT students and staff and leaves a lot of memorable moments in their lives truly worth reminiscing in the future.

Impressions of students on Hashar event:

“Today, together we managed to make one park cleaner. The weather was very nice and it made the work even more pleasurable. The atmosphere was truly wonderful and encouraging: many friends and pleasant background music. This is the first time hashar was so much exciting as never before!”, - says senior level student Mekhriniso Khamraeva.

“This day was very special for me. I am proud to be a part of WIUT family and to make a contribution to the wellbeing of the environment. I express huge thanks to everyone for sharing this holiday and the entertaining agenda of celebrations.” - Students’ Union General Secretary, Jakhongir Sadiev
