On August 1, Dr. Mari Sako Professor of Management Studies at Saïd Business School of the University of Oxford gave a guest lecture at Westminster International University in Tashkent. Dr. Mari Sako discussed the topic: "Globalization and de-globalization: Implications for Business Strategy".
Professor Sako`s areas of expertise include global strategy, comparative institutional analysis, outsourcing and offshoring, and professional services. She is member of the advisory board of Thomson Reuters Legal Executive Institute, and was President of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics during 2011-12. Professor Sako made a significant contribution to the understanding of the Japanese economy and Japanese firms. In the 1990s and 2000s, she was a researcher for the MIT International Motor Vehicle Program (IMVP), focusing on supplier relations in Japan, Europe and the USA.
