The WIUT Masters programme explores and enables you to develop an understanding of the global environment, to focus on the key business issues and functions required to work in an international environment and develop skills required of an international manager. This requires WIUT to deliver the programme to the highest international standards and to ensure the highest quality delivery.
You may say that every University will claim it provides the highest quality. But at WIUT we can provide you with real proof of our quality.
Proof 1 - International Accrediation
WIUT provides educational services accredited by its exclusive partner – the University of
Westminster (London, UK). The University of Westminster is a major UK public university offering higher education for the past 170 years. WIUT is accredited/validated to deliver the same Masters course, which is operating at University of Westminster. WIUT has had to undergo a rigo rous review of all its activities, including the management of the institution as well as the delivery of its courses to prove it has the same international standards and then prove that it can deliver the Masters with the right level of resources and staff. It has done so on 5 separate occasions and with flying colours.
The University of Westminster (founded in 1838), like all UK universities, is also subject to review by the Quality Assurance Agency, a public agency responsible for reviewing the management of academic quality and standards of universities in the UK. This means that the University of Westminster has to prove to an external UK agency that it can assure the same level of international quality in all its provision, including that delivered by WIUT. The QAA has found no reason to doubt the quality of the collaborative provision at WIUT.
That’s why when you join us, you’ll be also registered as an external student of the University of Westminster as well as a student of WIUT. And upon successful completion of studies you will receive Master Degree from the University of Westminster which will have the same international recognition as any other University of Westminster award, signed by its Chairman of the court and the Vice-Chancellor/Rector.
Proof 2 - Teaching and Learning methods
WIUT invests in the professional development of its staff, there is a continuous professional development programme that provides a continuous assurance the level of quality of staff is kept at an international level. The professional development programme supports the professional development of teaching and research, in collaboration with the University of Westminster and other international universities.
Staff are actively engaged in research as well as collaboration with a range of international universities. The research and the international experiences inform the teaching and learning, new material informed by research is used to enable students to be kept at the level of quality of an international qualification.
WIUT is a research lead university but is proud of its teaching. On the Masters, teaching and learning is grounded in international research and theory but informed by practice. An approach that helps to assure the highest standard of quality in the staff and their teaching.
The philosophy of the course places much emphasis on the integration of theory and practice within an international environment and this is reflected in the teaching and learning strategy. In particular, the course seeks to expose students to a wide range of business scenarios; a broad range of assessments are used to assess understanding of concepts, application of skills, and the ability to critically evaluate a problem in the light of alternative perspectives.
The course includes teaching methods and learning situations in the traditional modes as well as more innovative, student-based learning methods such as role-playing and group presentations. You are encouraged to be proactive in your approach to learning through the use of case studies and simulation exercises, and by working in teams. In addition, you are encouraged to undertake a considerable amount of independent research and study.
Proof 3 - Assessment
WIUT has to follow and has followed the UK standards of quality assurance for the marking and review of all assessments. This requires that all assessments are double mark, anonymously by 2 WIUT staff, then by a University of Westminster member of staff . Then an independent External Examiner, who is an expert in the area, appointed by the University of Westminster, reviews the standard of marking and assessment. The results of this process are then subject to collective review at an assessment board where all teaching staff, external examiners review and agree the marks.
This rigorous approach to the quality of marking and setting of assessments means the standards are at the highest international level and maintained at that level.
In addition, a Liaison Tutor is appointed by the University of Westminster to provide support to both staff and students at Westminster International University in Tashkent. The Liaison Tutor’s role is to ensure that students studying at WIUT receive the same information and standard of teaching as those students studying in London, as well as assisting in maintaining that WIUT sets similar standards in assignments and examinations.
The Liaison Tutor will normally visit WIUT twice a year and he will have an opportunity to meet you and other WIUT students to discuss your views on the programme and any other issues of your concern.
