Postgraduate Certificate of Special Study in Teaching and Learning, Accredited by the Higher Educational Academy
Introduction to the course
This course, the Postgraduate Certificate of Special Study in Teaching and Learning is intended for practising teachers who want to improve their professional skills. It is made up of a single level 7, 20 credit core module: ‘Theory and Practice of Teaching and Learning’. The Certificate is a University of Westminster (UK) award which has been validated for delivery in Westminster International University in Tashkent.
Aims of the Course
The course aims to provide you with a solid foundation in key issues connected with teaching, learning and assessment and classroom management in a supportive environment. The course aims to:
- assist you in enhancing your students’ learning
- explore notions of effective teaching and learning
- examine principles of assessment and marking
- provide opportunities for you to receive feedback on your practice and to embed a reflective approach within your practice to improve performance
- facilitate the enhancement and recognition of teaching skills
- develop reflective and analytical approaches to theory and practice in higher, further and post 14 secondary education
- provide the opportunity for you to critically evaluate your own practice in the light of a range of educational theories and in the light of your findings through your observation of colleagues
- engage you in action research that will form a basis for your further scholarship and professional development activity
