Admission Requirements
Admission to courses at WIUT will be based on the approved admission criteria for University of Westminster awards as validated or amended by the University of Westminster.The following are the current admission requirements:
Certificate of International Foundation Studies
Entry requirements for the Certificate of International Foundation Studies have been set in order to select potential students who have proven academic ability and are able to demonstrate a solid foundation of skills in both Mathematics and English. Intending students should meet the following criteria:

Age requirement
Applicants must be at least 17 years of age at the start of the academic year of enrolment (the academic year runs from 1st October to 30th September)
2. English language requirement
Applicants must:
- Have grade C or above in GCSE O’ level English, or its equivalent
- or Have an IELTS score of 5.5 and 5 in the writing component
- or the equivalent TOEFL according to the WIUT/UoW conversion table.
- or Have achieved the required pass level on the WIUT Basic of English for Academic Purpose module at level 2
3. Mathematics requirement
Applicants must have an acceptable level of competence in Mathematics. This could be demonstrated by one of the following:
- A pass in an entrance test approved by the University of Westminster
- or Grade C or above in GCSE O’ level Mathematics or its equivalent.
- Or Have achieved the required pass level on the WIUT Basic of Quantative Skills in Quantative Methods module at level 2.
4. General requirements
Applicants must have studied a broad range of subjects and have a school leaving certificate equivalent to GCSE O Level, e.g. the Uzbek certificate of secondary education (Attestat) normally with an overall average mark of 70%
Other Internationally recognised qualifications may be accepted. Applicants will need to give details of the type and grade of all qualifications. Normal UK entry requirements will apply.
Certificate of International Foundation Studies, Part-time
Entry requirements for the Certificate of International Foundation Studies have been set in order to select potential students who have proven academic ability and are able to demonstrate a solid foundation of skills in both Mathematics and English. Intending students should meet the following criteria:
1 Age requirement
Normally applicants will have to reach at least 16 years of age by the beginning of the academic year of enrolment. For the purposes of this regulation the academic year runs from 1st October to 30th September.
2. English language requirement
Applicants must:
- Have grade C or above in GCSE O’ level English, or its equivalent;
- or Have an IELTS score of 5.5 and 5 in the writing component or the equivalent TOEFL according to the WIUT/UoW conversion table.
- Or Have achieved the required pass level on the WIUT Basic of English for Academic Purpose module at level 2
3. Mathematics requirement
Applicants must have an acceptable level of competence in Mathematics. This could be demonstrated by one of the following:
- A pass in an entrance test approved by the University of Westminster
- or Grade C or above in GCSE O’ level Mathematics or its equivalent.
- Or Have achieved the required pass level on the WIUT Basic of Quantative Skills in Quantative Methods module at level 2.
4. General requirements
Applicants must have studied a broad range of subjects and be a full-time local high school (academic lyceum or college) student who has successfully completed 10 years school education.
Other Internationally recognised qualifications may be accepted. Applicants will need to give details of the type and grade of all qualifications. Normal UK entry requirements will apply.
All Bachelor Degree Courses
For entry to the BACHELOR DEGREE COURSE the following requirements must be met:
- Age requirement
Applicants must be 18 years of age at the start of the academic year of enrolment (the academic year runs from 1st October to 30th September) - English language requirement
Applicants must have an IELTS score of at least 6.0 (for the BA Commercial Law the requirement for IELTS is 6.5) with a minimum score of 6.0 in the writing component (or equivalent TOEFL score) - Mathematics requirement
Applicants must pass a Maths entrance test approved by the University of Westminster or have a recognised Maths qualification equivalent to the UK GCSE ‘O’ Level. - General requirements
Applicants from Uzbekistan must have studied a broad range of school subjects and have a school leaving certificate. Normally an overall average of 70% in the Uzbek certificate of secondary education (Attestat) would be sufficient;
Applicants must have successfully completed the first year of university in Uzbekistan (normally with average mark above 70%)
OR
- possess an equivalent entry qualification recognised by the University of Westminster, ( such as GCSE A/S, International Baccalaureate or SATS )
Other Internationally recognised qualifications maybe accepted. Applicants will need to give details of the type and grade of all qualifications. Normal UK entry requirements will apply.
Postgraduate Courses
MA in International Business and Management
For entry to MA in International Business and Management the following requirements must be met:
- Age requirement
Be at least 22 years of age by the day of enrolment. - First degree requirement
A first (bachelors) degree in any subject at the level of a Lower Second Class Honours (UK) or overseas equivalent. - English language requirement
If your first degree was not taught and assessed in English, you will need an IELTS score of at least 6.5 (or TOEFL Paper 600 / Computer 250 / Internet based 100)
Postgraduate Certificate of Special Study in Teaching and Learning
Admission Requirements
1.Participants will be staff of WIUT, or those from partner institutions engaged in higher, further or secondary education. WIUT staff members and those from other Higher and Further Education institutions will normally be full- or part-time lecturers. Participants from Secondary schools will normally be teachers working with students aged 14 and above who have already received some initial or in-service teacher training.2. First degree or equivalent.
2. Normally, a minimum of 30 hours teaching or supporting learning throughout the duration of the course.
3. An IELTS score of 6.5 or the equivalent TOEFL score (600 paper-based, 250 computer-based, 100 internet based) would normally be required.
4. All applicants will be interviewed to determine their professional capability the extent to which they could benefit from the course.
